Vive la différence! iPhone 12 Dual SIM

Filed under: News — csadm @ 11:36 am

Not all iPhone 12s are created equal.

At Cool Stuf we have done our homework. We are offering the new iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro that both feature dual nano SIMs – both open line.

If you don’t know the advantages of unlocked dual SIMs then you are probably new to PNG. If you want a refresher visit our article from June 2020

Cool Stuf has also decided not to bring in the Pro Max – for good reason. Many critics have claimed the device is too big to use comfortably. From experience, we also believe the market in PNG is more centred on the base model iPhone 12 and the Pro.

We’ve also simplified things for prospective buyers by just offering the 128GB version of both devices and keeping the choice of colour equally simple.

From the front they look the same…
but don’t let looks deceive you.

Here’s how our two models of iPhone 12 compare:

iPhone 12 – The base model pushes everything forward with superfast A14 Bionic, the fastest chip in a smartphone. A new dual-camera system. And a beautiful Super Retina XDR display, so you can see everything in vivid detail. Key features: 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR display; Ceramic Shield, tougher than any smartphone glass; A14 Bionic, the fastest chip ever in a smartphone; Advanced dual-camera system with 12-megapixel Ultra Wide and Wide cameras; Night mode; Deep Fusion; Smart HDR 3; and 4K Dolby Vision HDR recording; 12-megapixel TrueDepth front camera with Night mode and 4K Dolby Vision HDR recording; industry-leading IP68 water resistance; iOS 14 with redesigned widgets on the Home Screen, the all-new App Library, App Clips and more!

Cool Stuf price PGK4,990 (Available in Black)

iPhone 12 Pro – from the front, it’s impossible to tell the 12 and 12 Pro apart. They are both 6.1 inches and 2,532 by 1,170 pixels. Both have the big notch at the top which Apple needs for its Face ID sensor, and very small bezels around their beautiful screens. The phones are slightly smaller than the iPhone 11. iPhone 12 Pro is noticeably a little heavier than the 12 (6.66 versus 5.78 ounces). Both are lighter than the 11. The displays are all higher resolution than their predecessor – both the 12 and 12 pro are about the same resolution as the 11 Pro was.

Both the 12 and the 12 Pro pack 2,815mAh batteries. That’s smaller than the iPhone 11’s 3,110mAh cell, yet these iPhones last longer on a charge; that’s the effect of the OLED screens combined with the more efficient A14 processor.

The big difference between the 12 and the 12 Pro is in the triple lens camera system for next-level low-light photography. It’s a beautiful leap forward. It features incredible low-light photography with its new Pro camera system, and 4× optical zoom range. It has cinema-grade Dolby Vision video recording, editing and playback. Night mode portraits and next-level AR experiences with the LiDAR Scanner make it worth the additional investment.

A final word about design – both models feature a sleek new flat-edge design which sets it apart, with an aerospace-grade aluminum enclosure combined with the Ceramic Shield front cover, which goes beyond glass by adding a new high temperature crystallization step that grows nano-ceramic crystals within the glass matrix, increasing drop performance by 4x – that means it’s four times less likely to shatter than previous iPhone glass.

iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 mini both feature all-screen Super Retina XDR displays that stretch further to the edges, with system-wide colour management for industry-leading colour accuracy. Both models deliver a 2 million-to-1 contrast ratio for true blacks, and an immersive HDR viewing experience for high-definition video, photos with more detail, and nearly twice the peak brightness of iPhone 11.

iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 mini have an industry-leading IP68 rating for water resistance up to 6 meters for up to 30 minutes, and are protected against everyday spills.

As tough as…

Filed under: News — csadm @ 2:45 pm

Have you had a phone that’s been dropped, drowned and thrown around? Then the Nokia 800 Tough is probably the one for you.

It’s not afraid of a little rough play.

With an IP68 rating, Nokia 800 Tough is designed to combat accidental drops, dust, sand, water and even extreme temperatures. Perfect for harsh conditions in Papua New Guinea and perfect for worksites and tradies with its bigger buttons, anti-slip grip, preloaded apps and 4G LTE.

A flashlight, camera, loudspeaker and more – all powered by the long-lasting battery. Nokia 800 Tough is jam-packed with all the utilities you need, no matter what the day – or night – throws at you.

The aforementioned long-lasting battery will give you over a month of standby time from a single charge.

The Nokia 800 Tough also pushes ruggedness to the limits with military-grade MIL-STD-810G compliance. It’s light weight and durable, featuring an anti-slip back and rubberized edges for extra grip, and a safety loop so you can attach it wherever it is most convenient.

Made for ultimate toughness, the Nokia 800 Tough is waterproof up to 1.5m for 30 minutes and IP68 certified, the rubber seals also keep it dust and sand proof. Better still, it has drop-to-concrete protection up to 1.8m, whilst also withstanding extreme temperatures.

Nokia 800 Tough – in its element when it’s in the elements

The protection doesn’t stop at the rubber either. There are two water-resistant flaps over the micro-USB port and 3.5mm headphone port on the top edge. They’re right next to a 198-Lumen flashlight you can activate by long-pressing up on the navigation button. The phone’s screen needs to be on for this to work, though, so you’re not likely to accidentally activate it in your pocket.

Awarded by Hannover-based iF International Forum Design GmbH, Nokia 800 Tough was recently selected as a winner of the iF DESIGN AWARD, the world-renowned design prize.

The Nokia 800 Tough is a small, light, nearly-indestructible feature phone with epic battery life. It’s a perfect backup phone or even a daily driver if you don’t want super-advanced smartphone features. (Android Authority)

Nokia hits an excellent balance of price, easy-to-access features and, above all, toughness with the Nokia 800 Tough. If you want a feature phone that’s nearly impossible to accidentally destroy, buy this handset. (Finder)

2020… unmasked

Filed under: News — csadm @ 12:51 pm

This year was unusual to say the least. The New Year and decade 2020 was met with global optimism. Sure, there were stories about a new virus sweeping through China – but we had heard that kind of thing before. And then all hell broke loose. By March a global pandemic had been declared and it hit like a tsunami.

At Cool Stuf we had to adapt to a new environment and new challenges in order to meet the changing expectations of our customers. It was a real test-case of “survival of the fittest” – being able to adapt, change and thrive in the “new normal”.

Popular: In August we introduced a range of products to our COVID-19 line-up. The Airdry Airshield facemask remains a best-seller

Here are some of the highlights of 2020 – so far…

JANUARY 2020

In January we announced the arrival of Gopro Hero 8 to our camera line-up. We also launched our Ultimate Dance Competition. From January 20 until March 1, Cool Stuf’s Facebook followers had the opportunity to message a short video clip of their best dance move which was then shared to our Facebook page. The video with the most total likes won a Megaboom 3 portable Bluetooth speaker and the best two submissions each week won an Ultimate Ears Wonderboom 2 ultra-portable speaker. We had over 240,569 video views and over 250,000 post engagements throughout the course of the promotion, and the main prize winner had over 21,000 video views.

March 2020

By March the global Covid-19 pandemic had been declared, along with lock-downs and travel restrictions.

April 2020

In April we introduced the new iPhone 11 and Samsung S20 range to immediate popularity. With people unable to travel overseas, our customers were relying on us to deliver the goods to PNG. Both iPhone and Galaxy remain popular throughout the course of 2020.

April also saw the first edition of our newsletter “Hot Topics” as a way to keep in touch with our loyal customers during these difficult times.

We were also offering our customers the choice and the freedom of unlocked, dual-SIM devices and fantastic new products such as the Xiaomi Note 10 Pro with its ground-breaking 108MP main camera sensor and by mid-year the Xiaomi 10 and Mi Note 10 Lite.

Add to that a greater range of products – including the TCL range of ultra-HD televisions. It just so happened that with lock-down and with so many house-bound and hungry for news, the humble TV set had a resurgence in popularity.

May 2020

By May we were working with global security manufacturer HikVision to provide temperature-screening Thermographic Cameras and solutions in the PNG market in response to demand during the COVID-19 pandemic.

At the same time we introduced a new award-winning USB drive and external drive. SecureDrive was developed in the United States with a level of security used by global organisations such as NASA, Boeing, Google, Microsoft and various US Government departmental organisations. With many working from home, it was essential for large organisations to protect their data and we offered the solution.

In keeping with our promise to provide a wide range of product to cater for all levels of the market we introduced new affordable smartphones from Vivo and Oppo in May 2020.

Our May 2020 newsletter featured a number of personal care items including the Berrcom 6-in-1 non-contact thermometer; the Purus air purifier; and the Beurer blood pressure monitor. All featured on our Facebook page.

June 2020

In June we introduced the MiPo range of generic inks and toners, adding to our OEM range from Canon and HP, once again giving our customers greater freedom of choice using our international network of suppliers.

July 2020

Our July newsletter featured our range of d.light solar lighting products. We also shared  it on our Facebook page.

In July we also introduced the Samsung A11 and A21s as mid-range alternatives in our Samsung product line-up.

On July 27 we launched our hugely popular selfie competition giving away 30 Alcatel mobile phones, tabs and wi-fi devices. The promotion continued its popularity throughout August.

July 2020 also saw the relaunch and reopening of our Gabaka Street shop as Security Central – focussing on ID card printing and providing a range of CCTV and other security solutions for customers.

August 2020

In our August newsletter we announced the introduction of a range of products to add to our personal care/ COVID-19 line-up. This included the popular high-tech Airdry Airshield Facemask.

September 2020

September 2020 saw the rebranding of our shops in Lae, featured on our Facebook page.

The “new normal” had created a new demand for products such as iPad, Galaxy Tab and the new Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra. Products that allowed for greater work-life balance.

October 2020

By October 2020 our website had undergone updating and our Facebook page was attracting increasing numbers of followers.

And now?

December 2020 will see the addition of the iPhone 12 to our product line-up. “Hard-edged phones for a hard-edged year, Apple’s iPhone 12 series brings a solid feel, excellent screens, better low-light camera performance, and improved network connectivity…”  (PC Mag)

We can’t wait to see the iPhone 12 in PNG… and like everyone else, we look forward to less challenging times in 2021!
